When a socio-political crisis in Colombia forced the founder of SpanishNYC, Luis Cardozo, to leave his home country in 1999, his two main assets to start a new life in NYC were a law degree and passion for languages.
Upon arriving in New York, Luis saw that even with several Spanish schools in NYC and many native Spanish speakers, students still thought learning the language was a difficult skill to master. So, he decided to create SpanishNYC to apply the language-teaching method he had created, the Natural Conversational Approach. He focused the school on the language-learning needs of businesses and families. Today, SpanishNYC continues his successful mission to help students of all ages achieve their goals of speaking and understanding Spanish. And, the Law degree? Well, who needs another lawyer when tapas, mojitos and salsa, and excellent students are so much fun!
